(Looking for details on our Swiss wedding? Check out this page.)
We are planning on starting our stay in Tahoe on Wednesday, July 27, and encourage anyone who is able to get some time off to join us!
Welcome Event
“Official” wedding weekend festivities will start on Friday, July 29, with a welcome party. We would love for any guests who have already arrived to town by Friday to join us at our private residence in Incline Village from 3:30-8PM for a casual welcome event. The house is a 10-min drive from Aspen Grove.
There is street parking near the house for the welcome event. If you prefer not to drive, we are offering a shuttle to and from central Incline Village throughout the evening. Please email us with which pickup location you prefer (Raley’s Parkside Inn, or Hyatt), the earliest time you could be picked up (we’ll start running around 3PM), and how many seats you will need if you are interested in this option.
Ceremony & Reception
Site of the main event: Aspen Grove in Incline Village, NV.
On Saturday, July 30, we’ll hold our outdoor ceremony and reception at Aspen Grove (960 Lakeshore Blvd) in Incline Village, across the street from the stunning Lake Tahoe beaches and nestled among the Aspens next to tranquil Third Creek. Festivities will start at 3:30 in the afternoon and extend through the night.
Please note that we are planning an adults-only wedding. If you are traveling with your children, we have a list of referred local babysitters that we would be happy to share – please just ask!
Prepare yourself for fairly non-traditional wedding events and be ready to dance your bootie off! Seriously, we’ll be dancing outside. In the grass. All night. Not a joke.
We know many of you have managed to secure accommodations within walking distance of Aspen Grove, which is terrific! For those who do plan to drive to the wedding, public parking can be challenging near the lake in the summertime and we recommend finding an alternative form of transportation (Tahoe Sierra Transportation, Truckee River Taxi, Capitol Cab services in Incline Village). There is a parking lot next to Aspen Grove, and overflow parking is located in the next driveway down Lakeshore Blvd as you drive west. A potential back-up option is to park at the Incline Village Recreation Center on Incline Way which is about a 10min walk from Aspen Grove.
We are planning an ‘unplugged’ wedding ceremony, so please leave your phones, cameras, tablets, etc. aside until the cocktail hour, when we encourage you to fire away!
In case of rain, we have a back-up venue in Incline Village. If rain looks likely, please check this web site on the day of the wedding for new directions. Rain will probably push back the start time of our festivities, but we’ll provide any necessary details HERE!
Attire
Saturday, July 30 could be the hottest day of the year, or it could snow (though unlikely). Or both in the same day. Either way, we will be outside all afternoon and long after the sun sets, so please be prepared for hot weather, but bring layers and a rain coat.
Wear your dancing shoes – that’s most important. Unofficial attire for the wedding is “Tahoe chic” – e.g., summer dresses / khakis. Because we will be in grass, no high heels, flats and wedges are encouraged for women. Suits and ties entirely optional for the guys. Also, we discourage perfume or cologne on account of mosquitos. And, did we mention Bootie will be there?
Casual attire is encouraged for the welcome event on Friday.
Jennifer and Dave,
I am so excited for you! I can’t wait until July 30th!
Love, Mom
I am so-o-o-o-o excited and happy for you two. My gift might help stop a leak or two! Guess I’ll start looking for my sequined long dress tomorrow – sound appropriate??? Love, love, love, Grammy
Thank you Grammy!!! You could not be inappropriate if you tried. Except maybe if you wore a tiara…
Love, J&D
I’m exited too – I suppose it will be a traditional clingon wedding right? I’m soo looking forward to the ceremonial beating… 😉
