Things To Do

While we can happily provide a more exhaustive list, here are our top ten recommendations for summertime activities accessible from the north shore (prioritized, of course, for the adventure-seeking):

  1. Go hiking! There are many trails for all levels of hikers, from the more extreme stretches on the Tahoe Rim or Pacific Crest Trails to local, shorter hikes immediately in Incline Village
  2. River raft down the Truckee River (if we get enough snow this winter to feed the river!)
  3. Mountain bike down the ski runs at Northstar Resort
  4. Paddleboard from King’s Beach to Crystal Bay
  5. Choose between an aerial tram ride, roller skating at 8200’/2500m, playing disc golf, rock climbing, or a mountaintop tennis match at the Squaw Alpine Resort
  6. Kayak to Fannette Island, where you can jump off the rocks into Emerald Bay
  7. Rent a bike and enjoy the local paved bike trails at lake level
  8. Drink wine and play bocce at Truckee River Winery
  9. Pack a picnic and head to one of the many public beaches near Incline Village, such as Sand Harbor, Kings Beach, or Agatam Beach
  10. Check out historic downtown Truckee

You can also golf, gamble, splurge with spa treatments, or simply drive the loop around the lake to orient yourself in its stunning beauty… we could go on and on. If you need more ideas, please ask!

  1. If anyone needs info hiking, contact me. Mike & I have hiked almost all of the trails in the basin, so we have lots of info to share. Rafting will be happening this year – yippee!! Thank you Mother Nature for the precipitation.
